Cheddar Chowder

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups potatoes diced
  • ½ cup carrots diced
  • ½ cup celery diced
  • ¼ cup onion chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper

White Sauce

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 cup ham cubed

Instructions

  • Combine water, potatoes, carrots, onion, celery, salt, and pepper in large kettle
  • Boil 10-12 minutes

White Sauce

  • Melt butter in small saucepan
  • Add flour and stir until smooth (about 1 minute)
  • Slowly add milk and cook until thickened
  • Add grated cheese and stir until melted
  • Add white sauce and cubed ham to vegetables and liquid
